What it is

Last year Microsoft announced Windows 10X, a specialized OS for Foldable devices that runs like PC class features. Initially, they planned to release “Surface Neo” powered by 10X but due to the ongoing Pandemic, they pushed their release into 2021. It is not only limited to the Surface family but followed by many of the other vendors such as “Asus” / “Dell” / “hp” / “Lenovo”. Targeted to users who love flexibility and mobility in PC class support.

Modern PC

Some of the highlights are Faster Updates, improved security, better Anti-malware engine, and improved battery life. this surely made close to mobility beast. It replaces traditional file explorer to modern file explorer. Live Tiles have been removed for dynamic and simplified UX. the physical keyboard is no longer required because it is replaced by a virtual keyboard and it functions like butter smooth and flawless. emojis/Icons/Animations have been improved and more specific than Mainline Windows 10 Pcs.

Windows 10X


As it is optimized as “Lightweight OS”, it runs predominantly win32 in a container environment. Windows assistant – “Cortana” is replaced by “Windows Hello”. hardware receptors will initially be said to support “LTE” networks but no confirmations about WiFi6 & 5G NR support. Facial recognition & fingerprint is presented like usual biometric features in mainline Win10. Microsoft didn’t confirm whether this range of devices supports Xbox gaming compatibility or not. Still, there is a lot to go for further information about these devices. We have to wait until the Next Surface event.
