Vodafone and Idea were combined and created a new identity as ‘Vi’ (pronounced as We). This announcement was declared by Vodafone and idea MD & CEO Mr. Ravinder Takkar, he said in less than 2 years they have achieved the mammoth task of the world’s largest integration.
As the integration of the two brands was now completed, it was the time for a fresh start Vodafone and Idea came together as a merged entity two years ago. We have, since then focused on integrating two large networks, our people and processes.
And today I am delighted to present Vi, a brand that will bring important meaning to the lives of our customers. Indians are optimistic and want to get ahead in life. They would love a credible partner to help them on this journey. Vi’s positioning is built around this promise and we focus on meeting the customer needs to help them thrive,”
He said these during the live webcast of the announcement on September 7, Monday.

With network integration, the subscribers of both the networks can enjoy the unified experience on 2G 3G & 4G on the services area.
By these we can get more network coverage, more value, more excitement, newer and smarter technologies like VoLTE, Digital Wallets, and Internet of Things along with access to More touchpoints
Vodafone and Idea planned to raise up to Rs. 25,000 crore through a combination of equity and debt instruments.
The decision will be confirmed after the Supreme court directed telecom operators to pay 10% of total adjusted gross revenue (AGR)- related dues of this year, and the rest of the payments in 10 installments, starting next fiscal year.
The Vodafone Idea network already outstanding to pay dues of AGR of about Rs. 50,000 crore.
The Vi plan is more or less the same as the old and existing plans. Vi offers some double data offers on some of its prepaid recharge plans Rs. 299, Rs. 499, and Rs. 699 offers up to 4GB data per day.
The prepaid plans Rs. 249,149,399, and Rs. 219 comes with extra data benefits up to 5GB. Though, the Vi expected to announce new plans in upcoming days.
